Drawing from the wisdom of ancient yoga texts, known as the Vedas, our philosophy for Holistic Development recognizes the connectedness of body, mind and spirit.
At VRMA, our regular Yoga and Mantra Meditation Classes form an important component of holistic development. Yoga and meditation practices in early childhood have been correlated to increased sense of calm, better physical and mental health, as well as high self-esteem and confidence.
VRMA provides nourishing and balanced meals that promote the physical, emotional and intellectual well-being of our students in accordance with the ancient science of Ayurveda. Our meals are 80% organic and GMO-free, and we are on our way to becoming North America’s first school to serve fully Ayurvedic meals. Learn more here.
The ability to distinguish between the ‘convenient’ and the ‘correct’ ways, even when the latter is less popular. This is brought forth by implementing value-based learning from ancient Vedic scriptures like the Bhagavad Gita, Srimad Bhagavatam, Ramayan, Mahabharat and more, in an age-appropriate manner.
Our connection to Mother Nature, is one of the founding principles in the holistic development. Practically for our students, this translates to simple living with consideration to the nature and fellow living beings, getting in touch with Mother Nature through our ‘kitchen garden’ and field trips, following the three R’s of recycle, reduce and reuse, using energy efficient devices, and learning about our environment.
Our Vedic curriculum includes weekly Sanskrit Classes. During early childhood, children's abilities to understand, to process, and to utilize language also flourish in an amazing way. Learn more about the power of learning Sanskrit here.
At VRMA we provide to our parent partners and other community members the opportunity to participate in the learning of our students through activities such as pottery, gardening, and languages. Do you have a skill you would like to share with our students? Contact us!
